Core Survival Mechanics & Tools

The game delivers a raw, unforgiving survival sandbox where every action has a consequence. You must master a deep ecosystem of systems to survive even a single day.

• Hunger & Health Management: Your character’s hunger meter drains constantly. Forage berries, carrots, and seeds, but beware — raw food spoils and can poison you. Cook over a campfire to unlock better nutrition and sanity bonuses. Health is lost to combat, starvation, or environmental hazards. Bandages, healing salves, and cooked food restore it, but resources are finite.
• Sanity (Mental State) System: A third meter tracks your character’s mental health. Darkness, eating spoiled food, fighting monsters, or being near creepy structures drains sanity. When it drops too low, shadow creatures spawn and attack. Restore sanity by picking flowers, wearing a top hat, or sleeping in a tent. Losing all sanity doesn’t kill you — but the hallucinations will.
• Crafting & Science Machine Progression: Gather grass, twigs, flint, and logs to craft basic tools: an axe, pickaxe, spear, and torch. Build a Science Machine to unlock advanced recipes: backpacks, drying racks, crock pots, and traps. Later, an Alchemy Engine lets you craft weapons, armor, and magical items. Every recipe requires specific materials — no shortcuts.

• Procedurally Generated World: No two playthroughs are identical. Forests, savannahs, swamps, and deserts appear in unpredictable layouts. Learn to read the terrain — resource hotspots shift every game.
• Permadeath with No Save Scumming: When your character dies, the world is deleted. Start a new game with a fresh map and a new character. This forces careful risk assessment — one wrong fight can end hours of progress.
• Unique Playable Characters (Survivors): Each character has distinct stats and special abilities. Wilson (the default) grows a beard that provides insulation. Willow is immune to fire damage but sets things ablaze when low on sanity. Wolfgang deals double damage when well-fed but starves faster. Wendy’s ghost sister Abigail helps in combat. Choose based on your playstyle — or unlock more characters through gameplay.
• Day/Night Cycle & Seasonal Threats: Day is for gathering and building. Nightfall forces you to light a fire — without it, Charlie the darkness monster kills you instantly. As days progress, seasons shift: autumn is mild, winter brings freezing temperatures that drain health, and summer spawns wildfires. Prepare accordingly or perish.
• Combat with Weight & Timing: Fighting isn’t button-mashing. Each weapon has a damage value and attack speed. Enemies telegraph attacks — dodge by moving away, then strike during cooldown. Armor absorbs damage but degrades with use. Bats, hounds, spiders, and giant bosses each require different tactics.
