Description Partial Screen
Partial Screen: Your Silent, Always-Ready Screen Dimmer for Any App
Stop fighting with your phone’s automatic brightness. Partial Screen gives you surgical control over your display’s light output, letting you dim, mask, or black out specific portions of your screen without affecting the rest of the interface. Whether you need to read in bed, watch a video in a dark room, or hide sensitive content from prying eyes, this utility puts a precise light filter exactly where you need it.
Core Functionality: Precision Screen Masking & Dimming
- Customizable Dimming Zone: Drag, resize, and position a semi-transparent overlay anywhere on your screen. Adjust opacity from 100% (fully opaque black) down to near-invisible transparency using a live slider.
- Independent Brightness Control: Set a separate brightness level for the masked area while leaving the unmasked portion of your display at your device’s normal brightness setting. Useful for watching movies in bed without washing out the room.
- Multi-Mode Masking: Choose between a solid black mask, a gradient fade, a soft blur effect, or a color-tinted filter (blue light reduction, sepia, or custom RGB). Each mode applies only to the selected region.
- Gesture-Based Quick Toggle: Swipe left from the screen edge to instantly enable or disable the mask. No need to open the app each time – the overlay persists across all apps and the home screen.
- App-Specific Profiles: Save a mask configuration (position, opacity, mode) for individual apps. When you open YouTube, the mask automatically snaps to your saved “top-right corner” position. Open a reading app, and it shifts to a “bottom-half” gradient.
- Persistent Notification Control: Keep the overlay active even when you switch apps. The notification tray shows current mask status and provides one-tap access to opacity and mode toggles.
- Battery-Smart Rendering: Uses hardware overlay layers instead of screen recording to avoid draining battery. The mask consumes near-zero CPU when static and updates only when you move or resize it.
Key Advantages
- Zero Learning Curve: Drag to position, pinch to resize, tap to toggle. The entire interface is built around two-finger gestures and a single floating control panel.
- System-Level Operation: The mask runs on top of all apps, including games, video players, and system settings. No app compatibility issues.
- No Permissions Required: No camera, microphone, or storage access needed. The app only requests overlay permission (SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW) and notification access.
- Offline & Ad-Free: All processing happens locally. No network connection, no tracking, no advertisements.
