Description Dust Settle
Dust Settle — Arcade Blast That Merges Space Invaders With Breakout
Get ready for a fresh arcade shooter that combines the relentless wave mechanics of Space Invaders with the precision destruction of Brick Breaker. In Dust Settle, you pilot a spacecraft called the 'Raiden' (or similar ship), defending against descending alien formations. Every enemy vessel displays a number on its hull — this indicates exactly how many direct hits it can absorb before exploding. This number-based damage system turns each encounter into a tactical puzzle where you must prioritize targets based on their durability.
The core gameplay loop is fast and intuitive: alien invaders appear at the top of the screen in various formation patterns — lines, grids, diamonds — and you must break through them with precise shots. As you clear each wave, your weapon upgrades automatically. The new guns gain increased blast radius and raw firepower, making later waves significantly easier to shred. The upgrade system is progressive and visible: you see your ship's weapon visually change as you collect power-ups dropped by destroyed enemies.
Controls are pure touch-screen minimalism. You drag your finger across the screen to move your ship left or right. The ship fires automatically — no button pressing required. Your only tasks are aiming your shots, dodging incoming enemy projectiles, and collecting floating rewards (score multipliers, shield boosts, temporary rapid-fire). After surviving several waves, a boss appears. Bosses have much higher hit-point counters and often fire spread patterns, requiring you to dodge while landing sustained fire.
From the main menu, you can access a planetary map showing your progression route through different star systems. Each planet represents a new stage with unique enemy layouts and background visuals. The menu also displays a hangar of unlockable ships — each with distinct stats (speed, fire rate, special ability). You earn new ships by completing stages or achieving high scores.
Dust Settle successfully fuses two overused genres into a surprisingly original experience. The number-based enemy health system adds a layer of strategy missing from typical arcade shooters, while the automatic firing keeps the action fluid and accessible. The boss fights break up the wave monotony with patterned bullet-hell challenges.
