Description Garden Affairs

A Garden Left to Ruin — Your Puzzle Skills Will Bring It Back

You inherit a crumbling estate. The house is a wreck, the garden is overgrown, and the only way to restore it is through your match-3 puzzle performance. Garden Affairs puts you in the role of a landscape architect who must clear away debris, plant new life, and install ornate decorations, all while solving thousands of logic-based tile-matching levels. Every correct swap you make directly unlocks renovation materials, new plant species, and structural upgrades for the outdoor space. The game operates on a clear cause-and-effect loop: solve puzzles to earn stars, spend stars on garden improvements, watch the property transform in real time.

Core Gameplay Mechanics and Functional Systems

  • Match-3 Puzzle Engine with Resource Economy
The primary interaction is a classic tile-swapping puzzle board. You must align three or more identical flower, leaf, or tool icons in a row to clear them. Each cleared match generates a specific currency — coins, watering cans, or seeds — which are then deposited into your inventory. These resources are the only way to purchase new plants, garden furniture, and structural components. The puzzle board uses a static grid with no timers, allowing you to plan your moves without pressure. Levels range from simple 6x6 grids to complex 8x8 layouts with obstacles like stone blocks, vines, and treasure chests that require multiple matches to break.

  • Garden Renovation and Object Placement System
After completing a set of puzzle levels, you enter the garden editing mode. Here, you can place over 200 distinct objects including flower beds, hedges, fountains, statues, benches, and pathways. Each object has a fixed footprint on a grid-based map. You can rotate items 90 degrees and reposition them freely before confirming placement. The game tracks a "beauty score" that increases as you place items — higher scores unlock additional puzzle levels and special event challenges. You can also prune existing plants, remove dead trees, and repave walkways using tools purchased from the in-game shop.

  • Progressive Difficulty Curve and Level Types
The game features 1,500+ handcrafted puzzle levels divided into chapters. Each chapter introduces a new mechanic: levels with limited moves, levels requiring a specific number of points, levels with locked tiles that need keys, and boss levels where you must clear a central obstacle before time runs out. The difficulty escalates gradually — early levels allow generous move counts, while later stages require 3–4 specific combos in a row. You can replay any completed level to earn extra resources or achieve a three-star rating for bonus loot.

  • Visual and Audio Feedback Systems
The graphics engine renders each plant and object with individual leaf and petal detail. Lighting changes based on the in-game time of day cycle (morning, afternoon, evening). Sound effects trigger for every match — a soft chime for a 3-match, a louder chord for a 4-match, and a full fanfare for a 5-match or chain reaction. Background music is a looping ambient track with nature sounds like birdsong and wind, adjustable in the settings menu. The game also includes haptic feedback on supported devices for each tile swap.

  • Social and Competitive Features
You can connect to Facebook to see friends' garden progress and send or receive lives (each life allows one puzzle attempt). A global leaderboard tracks total beauty score and level completion percentage. Weekly tournaments pit you against other players in a limited-time puzzle race — the top 10% earn exclusive decorative items and premium currency. There is no direct multiplayer interaction; all competition is asynchronous.
