Description Vault 13
A Survivor Emerges: Vault 13
You are not the Chosen One. You are the one who left the vault before him. In Vault 13, you control a survivor from Vault 13 who escaped the fallout and now navigates the wasteland in a timeline parallel to the original Fallout 1 protagonist. Your mission is to systematically upgrade your character’s stats, engage in tactical turn-based combat against a variety of hostile creatures, and progressively acquire superior equipment to survive the harsh, post-apocalyptic environment.
The core gameplay loop is streamlined and direct. You select a mission from a list, and within seconds you are dropped into a combat encounter against a group of enemies. Early in the game, you will face mutated giant rats, mole rats, and radioactive scorpions. As you advance, your adversaries shift to human threats: bandits, raiders, and organized gangs. Each encounter demands careful management of your limited action points and positioning.
Core Gameplay Mechanics
-
Turn-Based Combat System
Battles follow the exact action-point model from Fallout 1 and 2. You have a fixed pool of action points each turn, which you must allocate to move, aim, and attack. Enemies also use action points to defend, counterattack, and reposition, making every decision critical. -
Character Progression & Gear Acquisition
You improve your character through a skill-based progression system. Each level grants points to enhance attributes like strength, perception, and agility. Equipment drops from enemies and mission rewards include weapons, armor, and consumables, each with distinct stats and effects. You can also craft and upgrade gear using salvaged materials. -
Mission-Based Progression
The game offers a linear mission structure with increasing difficulty. Each mission presents a specific objective—eliminate all enemies, protect a location, or retrieve an item. The environment is static but contains interactive elements like cover, traps, and loot containers. Mission completion unlocks new areas and harder enemy types.
Detailed Feature Breakdown
- Action Point Economy: Each turn you receive a set number of action points (AP). Moving one tile costs 1 AP, a basic attack costs 3–5 AP, and special abilities cost 5–8 AP. Managing AP efficiently is the core tactical challenge.
- Enemy Variety & AI: Enemies include mutated creatures (giant rats, scorpions, radroaches) and human opponents (bandits, gangers, mutants). Each enemy type has distinct stats, attack patterns, and defensive behaviors. They use cover, retreat when low on health, and coordinate attacks.
- Equipment Rarity & Modding: Weapons and armor are divided into common, uncommon, and rare tiers. You can attach modifications (scopes, grips, armor plates) using components found in the wasteland. Mods affect accuracy, damage, range, and durability.
- No Advertisements — Turbo Mode: The game features zero third-party advertisements. The “Turbo” mode increases combat animation speed by 2x, allowing faster grinding without losing control over turn actions.
- Minimalist Visual Style: Graphics are deliberately low-resolution and pixelated, mimicking the aesthetic of classic CRPGs from the late 1990s. This visual choice reduces performance requirements and maintains a nostalgic feel for fans of the original Fallout titles.
