Description XenoGate
The Gate Cracked Open. Your World Will Never Be the Same.
You are a Rift Walker, one of the few humans who can perceive the shimmering energy fields that tear through reality. These are the XenoGates — unstable portals to alien biomes, each with its own physics, flora, and hostile lifeforms. Your mission: step through, survive, extract rare materials, and return before the Gate collapses. One wrong step and you are stranded in a dimension that doesn't want you there. Every Gate is a new puzzle of survival, resource management, and tactical combat.
Your journey begins in a mobile command center — a retrofitted APC that doubles as your base of operations. From here, you manage your inventory, craft equipment, and analyze Gate signatures before jumping. The core loop is simple but deep: scan for active Gates, gear up for the specific environment (toxic atmosphere, zero gravity, or extreme heat), then deploy via a one-way drop pod. Inside the Gate, you have a limited time window before the portal destabilizes. Every second counts. You loot abandoned alien structures, harvest bio-luminescent flora for energy cores, and fight or flee from native creatures. Extraction requires you to reach the exit point before the Gate seals forever.
What sets XenoGate apart is its dynamic ecosystem system. Each alien world has a living food chain and weather cycle. If you kill too many predators, the prey species overpopulate and strip the area of resources. If you trigger a volcanic eruption, the entire terrain reshapes, revealing new caves and blocking old paths. Your actions have consequences that persist across multiple runs. You are not just exploring — you are terraforming, for better or worse.
- Real-time tactical combat
- Procedural alien ecosystems
- Craft your own gear
- Permadeath with persistence
Your inventory is a tetris-style grid where every item takes physical space. A plasma rifle occupies four slots; a medkit takes one. You must choose between carrying more ammunition or extra oxygen tanks. There is no pause button inside a Gate. The UI is designed for one-handed play, with swipe gestures for movement, tap for aiming, and hold for special abilities. The minimap updates in real-time, showing Gate stability percentage and nearby threats. You can mark waypoints, set traps, and even deploy temporary beacons to call in supply drops — but only if you have the resources.
The visual style is low-poly sci-fi with a heavy emphasis on color-coded biomes. Red zones indicate volcanic instability, blue zones are cryo-caves, and green zones are overgrown jungle ruins. The HUD is minimal, showing only your health, oxygen, and Gate timer. Sound design uses directional audio — you can hear a creature before you see it, and the low hum of a Gate destabilizing tells you it's time to run.
